Responding to the statement from The Rt. Hon. Dame Eleanor Laing MP today, the Chairman of the City of London Corporation’s Epping Forest and Commons Committee, Ben Murphy has said:
“I would like to join the many voices paying tribute to Dame Eleanor Laing, who has been a true friend of the City of London and a fierce defender of Epping Forest.
“Without recognition or reward, Dame Eleanor has also inspired a generation of young people, of all political backgrounds, to step forward and serve in public life.
“Over the past twenty-seven years, I have had the honour to serve in a wide range of community roles in Epping Forest and Dame Eleanor has always been there to offer a helping hand, a word of encouragement and smile. I, and may others like me, owe her a great debt of gratitude”.
