Transport for London have written to me this week to inform me of planned lift maintenance coming up on three of the seven lifts at Moorgate/Liverpool Street Elizabeth line stations, that will affect step-free access for customers travelling on the Elizabeth line and Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan and Northern lines in November and early December.
This planned work is part of TfL’s rolling lift maintenance programme which requires them to complete inspections and essential maintenance on existing lift components approximately every seven years, to ensure they meet all safety requirements and are continuing to run smoothly and reliably for our customers.
Each lift will be taken out of service separately to help ensure that as many lifts as possible remain in operation at the station. The three lifts are planned to be out of service on the following dates:
- Lift B will be out of service from Monday 04 November to Thursday 14 November. Customers requiring a step-free route to/from Moorgate ticket hall to westbound Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan services, or the Elizabeth and Northern lines will need to take alternative routes.
- Lift D will be out of service from Friday 15 November to Monday 25 November. Customers requiring a step-free route to/from Moorgate ticket hall to the Elizabeth and Northern lines will need to take alternative routes.
- Lift C will be out of service from Tuesday 26 November to Friday 08 December. Customers requiring a step-free route to/from Moorgate ticket hall to the Northern line will need to take alternative routes.
During these works, customers with accessibility requirements will be advised on the best alternative step-free journeys. While a number of alternative options will be available, the table below outlines some of the options we expect customers to utilise. There are no planned works on any of the lift services required for these alternative routes:

In advance of the works, TfL are contacting regular users of these stations with travel advice and information. They will also update their Journey Planner and TfL Go app, with customers encouraged to plan ahead using these real-time travel tools.
