Arrest in connection with Bishopsgate attempted robbery and knife attack

City of London Police detectives investigating the attempted robbery and knife attack on 6 October, have today arrested a man.

T/DCI Colin Bishop, of the City of London Police Major Crime Team, said:

“Detectives who are investigating a number of serious offences connected with the attempted robbery and knife attack on Bishopsgate last Thursday (6 October 2022) have arrested a 25-year-old man in Islington this morning (Monday 10 October 2022).

“He was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery, grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

“He remains in police custody.”

The City of London Police received reports of three stabbings and a person pushed to the floor on Bishopsgate at 9.46am on 6 October and officers arrived at the scene at 9.51am. Three victims were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated and the Major Crime Team launched an investigation.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for witnesses with information to assist with the investigation. Anyone with information about the incident should use the Major Incident Public Portal or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Update: 14th October 2022

The City of London Police released another update this morning and I am pleased to say that further arrests have now been made including the second suspect.

“Detectives have arrested a second man on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery, grievous bodily harm with intent & possession of an offensive weapon, in connection with the Bishopsgate attempted robbery knife attack on Thu 6 Oct. A woman was arrested for assisting an offender.”
