The last few weeks have felt noticeably busier in the City, with bars and restaurants doing what they do best and transport systems back up to pre-Covid levels. Having footfall in the City is critical for so many of our small businesses, so I continue to urge you to support these brilliant services.
This week, the City of London Corporation is as busy as ever. Much of my weekend has been spent reading hundreds of pages of meeting packs – the City does love paperwork! On Tuesday, I am spending the morning celebrating City Giving Day with the East London Business Alliance, followed by the Finance Committee, Wednesday I have the First Aid Yeomanry Parade and Reception in the Guildhall Yard, Thursday I am catching-up with some new businesses which have recently opened in Bishopsgate and on Friday I have the Community and Children’s Services Committee. In addition, I have a few meetings with Officers / staff leadership and I need to find time to review and approve the City’s response to the Local Plan for the London Borough of Enfield and the response to the main modifications made by Epping Forest District Council for their Local Plan. I do this under delegated authority in my capacity as Deputy Chairman of the Epping Forest and Commons Committee, which acts as Corporate Trustee and Conservator. Finally, on Saturday I will be joining Officers and local Councillors in Surrey for a site visit to Ashtead Common.
Please do keep me updated on what you’re doing in and around Bishopsgate, of if there is anything I can help with.
