As you may be aware, the City of London Corporation are holding ‘all out’ Court of Common Council elections on 20th March 2025.
Over the past year, we have been engaging with as many residents, corporates and SMEs in Bishopsgate to encourage them to sign-up to the Wardlist (or electoral register). I’m pleased to report that this has been with great success, as the list is now much larger than it used to be.
I have also met with about 50 people who contacted us and expressed an interest in standing for election, to provide mentorship and information about what it practically means to be a local Councillors in the City of London and how to establish a campaign. This is in addition to all of the briefings the City of London Corporation’s elections team have been hosting, through the Speak for the City campaign.
There is a 135 page document called the “Wardmote Book”, which outlines all of the rules and regulations when it comes to elections in the City.
Helpfully though, the City of London Corporation have simplified the process on nominations here, which also gives candidates a handy checklist of what forms are required when and additional guidance on things like appointment of agents and expenses.
I am pleased to confirm that my nomination to re-stand for election as a City Councillor representing the great ward of Bishopsgate has been submitted and accepted as a valid nomination. My thanks to the residents and businesses which signed my nomination form.
I will keep you updated as we progress through the election cycle.
